Equipment for military rehabilitation!
Medical institutions in Zakarpattia, being the farthest from the front line, provide treatment and rehabilitation for the wounded, but they face a huge workload. Doctors need specific equipment to improve the quality and speed of rehabilitation.
A multidisciplinary rehabilitation team (3 doctors of physical and rehabilitation medicine, 2 neurologists, 3 neurosurgeons, 4 physiotherapists, 2 occupational therapists, 2 psychologists and 2 speech therapists) was created at the Regional Clinical Center for Neurosurgery and Neurology of the Zakarpattia region council (Uzhhorod), which specializes in medical rehabilitation of people with nervous system and musculoskeletal disorders. Since 2022, the center has been treating and rehabilitating military personnel, emergency workers and civilians who sustained injuries of varying severity as a result of hostilities or shelling (including rocket attacks), including mine-blast and traumatic brain injuries with musculoskeletal or nervous system injuries, fractures, etc. On average, about 2,000 patients are treated here per month.
However, to provide complete and effective medical care, the institution needs passive rehabilitation devices for the knee and hip joints, wrist, elbow, and shoulder.
These devices are designed for passive rehabilitation of the patient, used in cases where the patient cannot move their limbs on their own, but the use of such devices is necessary to prevent contractures. The devices allow working with both sitting and lying patients. The presence of a wired control panel allows the patient to start and stop the therapy session independently. Such control allows the patient to relax the arm muscles, which has a positive effect on the effectiveness of treatment. Precise adjustment of the amplitude of movements in the joint allows the patient to feel virtually no pain during joint development. From session to session, the range of motion gradually increases until the joint function is fully restored. These devices are not available in sufficient quantities.
There is also a need for the 06E arm rehabilitation device – it uses robotic exoskeleton technology and combines passive and active training. This means that the patient tries to perform movements partially independently, which is the second stage of recovery. This approach helps to fully restore the arm's function. The device is designed to restore mobility of the finger joints for patients with dysfunction of finger movement after injuries. In fact, it is a glove that combines flexible robotics and neurology technologies to provide daily rehabilitation treatment. The center does not have this device at all.
Due to the hostilities, thousands of civilians, military and emergency services personnel suffer injuries of varying severity every day. Groups that have suffered nervous system injuries, traumatic brain injuries, musculoskeletal or spinal injuries require specific treatment and a full course of rehabilitation to restore lost functions.
