New career for mom of a child with CP

Navigating your life while raising a child with a disability is challenging. This story is about Halina. Halina and her family left their home in East Ukraine, escaping the war and leaving everything behind. So she had to start building a new life for herself and her two children, one of whom has a disability. We want to help Halina begin her new life! Small government support is not nearly enough to pay for essential treatments her child requires or basic needs. So, Halina had to find a way to support her family financially while looking after the children. 

Halyna and her family moved to Kyiv from the occupied territory. She is raising a daughter and a son. Her son, Mark, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Despite Mark needing constant care, Halina had to seek employment to provide for her children. Unfortunately, she experienced a reluctance from employers to hire her because she is a mom of a child with a disability. In Ukraine, moms of children with disabilities are forced to abandon their careers to look after their children full-time as they have very few work opportunities. But the miserly government funding given to support their children is not nearly enough to cover the costs of essential treatments, much less basic daily essentials. So, Halina recently took the plunge to start a new life. She learnt hairdressing to provide for her family. And now, she juggles her responsibilities as a mother and professional.

But starting a new venture and purchasing necessary professional tools and materials costs money that Halina cannot afford. We aim to help Galina start her new life by raising funds to buy professional hairdressing equipment and materials for her work.
