19-year-old Olia is a student at a higher educational institution and continues to move towards her dream profession. The girl dreams of being independent, realizing herself and proving that even with a chronic illness, you can achieve success.
At the age of nine, the girl's life suddenly changed. She lost weight dramatically, lost her appetite, and constantly felt very thirsty and tired. After the examination, the doctors diagnosed her with type 1 diabetes, a severe form with high risks to life. It sounded scary for the child, but it was from that moment that the path of struggle and growing up began. Since then, Olia has lived according to a strict regimen every day: measuring glucose levels more than 10 times a day, 5-6 insulin injections, careful monitoring of nutrition and physical activity. This is not just a habit – it is a matter of her life and well-being. At first, it was very difficult both physically and morally. The girl was afraid of making mistakes, worried about sugar spikes, and learned to accept herself with a new reality.
Later, Olia received great support at the diabetes school at the sanatorium. There she learned to count bread units, correctly select the dose of insulin, and understand her body. It was there that the girl felt that she was not alone and that it was possible to live a full life with diabetes.
Despite her illness, Olia always wanted an active life. She studied well, set goals for herself, and did not let the diagnosis determine her future. To maintain a stable glucose level, the girl constantly monitors her indicators and does not miss a single injection.
A few years ago, Olia became able to use continuous monitoring sensors, which greatly facilitate diabetes control. Thanks to the sensors, Olia feels calmer, more confident, and safer, especially while studying or sleeping. Unfortunately, their cost is too high. Now Olia can afford a sensor only occasionally, once every few months, although for stable control they are needed constantly.
The girl is asking for help and sincerely asks for support in providing sensors, because she is unable to cover these costs on her own every month. Together we can give Olia a chance to live a full life, reduce the risks of complications, and preserve her health for the future!
