Give Melanka hope back
Melasha's adolescent growth poses a serious threat: she may lose the chance to walk. The pelvic dislocation, shortening of the leg by 1,5 cm – this has already happened, and the consequences can be even worse if two expensive surgeries are not performed.
Melaniia was born at the 28th week of pregnancy weighing only 970 g. The baby spent the first month in intensive care, fighting pneumonia and jaundice, and the second – learning to breathe, suck and swallow.
After discharge, regular classes began: physical therapy, massage, rehabilitation courses. Over time, sessions with a psychologist and a speech therapist were added.
Closer to the age of one, the girl was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, which motivated her and her family to work even harder. As a result, Melaniia learned to crawl, sit and stand with support. It is still not possible to walk due to problems with the support system. Operations should correct the situation.
The girl entered the 4th grade of a school for visually impaired children. In the last year, Melasha has made huge progress: she reads in syllables, counts to one hundred, her speech and thinking are developing.
Now Melaniia is 11 years old. Bones grow intensively, but muscles do not have time to grow behind them, constantly strained due to cerebral palsy. The misalignment of the pelvis increased, which caused the left leg to shorten by 1.5 cm. The subluxation of the left hip joint turned into a dislocation.
On August 18, Melaniia had a consultation with an orthopedist. The doctor recommended urgent surgical intervention, otherwise she will not be able to walk and will suffer from pain.
Melasha has to undergo 2 operations at the Dnipro Medical and Surgical Center named after Pirogov The first intervention will be on the left hip joint. During the second, problems in the kneecaps and feet will be eliminated.
The father is not involved in his daughter's life; the family survives on disability payments and the grandfather's pension. For Melasha's family, this is not an affordable amount, but together we can help Melasha to develop actively and without suffering from pain. Let's support the girl!
