Grocery emergency care!
2020 has turned our understanding of the world upside down. In March, humanity had to quarantine to stop the pandemic. That’s why we immediately realized what a hopeless situation most of our families were in, where the only working adult lost income, and opened a collection for food assistance for low-income families. And in August 2020, Maria Van Kerkhove, head of WHO's Emergency Diseases Unit, admitted that the economic, social, and health costs of the quarantine were "colossal."
In three months we have provided assistance to more than a hundred families. Our support and support from the dobro ua platform assistants was very timely, but the flow of requests showed us that a huge number of families in Ukraine live below the poverty line and without strict quarantine. This is what people wrote.
“I want to express my deep gratitude to caring people, Charity Fund "Pomogaem". Thank you for not staying away. It is very difficult to survive on a disability pension without being able to work. My daughter, due to the diagnosis, needs constant care and treatment. During the entire period of the pandemic, no one helped us. I heard a refusal, at best a promise to help, which remained at the level of a promise. It is very painful that after 18 years of age a child with a disability becomes invisible to everyone, as if he is not there. But for a mother, a special child remains a child forever. Thank you very much for the products. She wrote a lot, tears are choking. I apologize for making all this read. Mothers of special children sometimes have no one to talk to”.
“We are sincerely grateful for the help provided to our family. I was not able to issue maternity allowance on time, as there is no quarantine or admission. My husband was left without work, and at the time of my discharge the family was in a difficult financial situation. The family has 4 children and your help was needed. Thank you very much".
“We now have difficulties, the house with all the property burned down, they took the house for payment, all the money is now spent on this, we have no one to wait for help, we have three little children and your help was very useful to us. Thank you very much for helping".
After quarantine, the former life is resumed, transport was launched, enterprises were opened. But not everyone was able to return to work. Back in May, the UN Children's Fund UNICEF sounded the alarm. According to his forecasts, the poverty level in Ukraine will increase from 27 to 44%. The economic consequences will be most devastating for families with children and the elderly. It is not yet known whether the forecasts came true, but the flow of requests to our fund for help with products is not decreasing.
In addition, we have launched a new project "Lady Patronessa", thanks to which mothers with children who have suffered from domestic violence receive help. Such families also need food for the first time, while their life will return to normal.
We continue to collect a database of families in difficult circumstances due to quarantine, and there are already dozens of people on the list. We will purchase basic products for them (cereals, flour, canned food, butter, etc.) and the most necessary detergents. The average price tag of a set for one family of 3 people is 640 UAH. We want no one to go hungry at this time. We want mums not to have to choose: buy a bag of flour and bake pancakes or buy powder to wash their diapers.
We ask everyone who has the opportunity to participate in the collection with any amount they can. Each of your ten is a lunch for the child and the peace of mind of his mother. Let's help each other to survive in difficult times!
