This is Makar. He is 8 years old, and every day he makes incredible efforts to do what comes naturally to many children. Makar has been diagnosed with childhood autism and general speech underdevelopment of level I. He lags behind his peers in development, does not speak, and often lives in his own world, but above all, he wants to grow, develop, and be with other children – as an equal.

After the age of one and a half, Makar experienced a sharp regression: he stopped responding to communication, lost his acquired speech and communication skills, and developed stereotypical movements. Since then, his family has been doing their utmost every day to help him develop, but Makar still finds it difficult to interact with people, establish contact, and express his needs. However, he has enormous potential that requires constant support.

Regular sessions with a speech therapist, psychologist, sensory integration rehabilitation courses, exercise therapy, massages, and swimming are yielding noticeable results. Every small achievement is a great victory, achieved through systematic and persistent work. All this is complemented by daily sessions at home, without days off or breaks.

“Thanks to rehabilitation, we see an overall improvement in Makar's physical condition and coordination. His pronunciation has improved, he has learned new sounds and words, and his sleep and behavior have improved,” says the boy's mother, who, incidentally, is the only one in the family who works. Not only does she provide for her son, but she is also studying to become a speech therapist so that she can work with him more effectively and professionally on her own. She is doing everything she can, but the financial burden on the family remains very heavy.
