A chance to recover for Dasha

A severe car accident changed the life of Dasha from Kamianske. Where there were dreams, creativity, and friends, there is now a fight for life.

Before the accident, Daria was an active, cheerful, and creative girl. She finished nine grades and wanted to move on to the tenth. Dasha dreamed of becoming a sculptor: in her hands, ordinary plasticine turned into works of art.

She easily made friends, loved traveling, and cared for stray animals: she fed them and sometimes took them home.

But on June 16, 2025, a serious road accident occurred. Dasha was intubated and urgently transported to Dnipro - to the intensive care unit of the Regional Medical Center of Family Health. There, a long fight for her life began: 2 months in a coma, 8 months on a ventilator, 15 surgeries, brain shunting, bacterial meningitis, and the placement of a gastrostomy and tracheostomy.

Olena taught her daughter to breathe independently - without oxygen support. Recently, doctors removed the tracheostomy. Daria is gradually learning to swallow food. She also regularly undergoes rehabilitation. At home, her Yorkshire terrier Emily is waiting for her.

Daria’s physical condition is improving, but her brain needs more time: she cannot speak and does not understand addressed speech. The injury led to optic nerve atrophy, which caused vision impairment.

Olena is raising two children on her own. She left her job to care for her daughter around the clock. The family lives on social assistance, which is constantly insufficient. Daria’s father helps as much as he can.

Dasha needs medications: Levitsetam, Cognitium, Cytisine, and OMK 2 eye drops. The monthly cost is UAH 6,167. She also needs specialized nutrition Nutrison Powder and Milupa milk. Monthly requirement – 18 cans.
