A chance for life for a newborn baby

On 27.05.2025, the project ‘A Chance for Life for a Newborn Baby’ for a total amount of UAH 88,300.00 was placed on the platform of the CO ICF ‘UBB’ dobro.ua for the treatment of Bohdan Marynchenko. The aim of the project was to raise funds for a boy who was born with a diagnosis of cerebral vascular disease, progressive hydrocephalus, a complex congenital pathology that affects the functioning of the central nervous system and threatens the life of the baby from the first days. To save Bohdan's life, an urgent neurosurgical intervention was required using special medical equipment and consumables.

On 30.05.2025, Bohdan underwent a complex neurosurgical intervention on his brain.

During the surgery, specialised consumables were used to perform external ventricular drainage and further stabilise the boy's condition:

RE-1141 In-line CSF reservoir, single dome - provides safe and controlled access to cerebrospinal fluid for its analysis and control of pressure in the ventricles of the brain.

CO-2010 Straight connector, asymmetrical - connects individual elements of the drainage system, ensuring tightness and uninterrupted operation of the entire structure.

DE-306 External ventricular drainage system, complete set - allows excess cerebrospinal fluid to be drained to the outside, reducing intracranial pressure and preventing life-threatening complications.

The CSF Flow Control Shunt Set, Profile Small, High Pressure + Drainage Set - regulates the rate of outflow of fluid from the brain, ensuring that a safe pressure level is maintained, and includes all the necessary components for the installation of an internal drainage system.

These consumables were critical for performing the complex neurosurgery that saved the life of newborn Bohdan.

Currently, Bohdanchik is in hospital for further treatment and observation by doctors. A recovery period, monitoring of his condition and gradual rehabilitation are ahead.
