Nicole was born healthy. But after three months, her parents began to notice that she was not following toys with her eyes. An ophthalmologist diagnosed partial atrophy of the optic nerves. The girl can only see bright light and silhouettes. An MRI scan at 1 year and 2 months showed microcephaly – underdevelopment of the brain.
In accordance with cooperation agreement No. 21 between the Ukrainian Charity Exchange Charitable Foundation and the charity aid operator  POMAGAEM Charitable Foundation dated 31 August 2020 and  additional agreement No. 21. 323 dated 2 July 2025, the project ‘A Happy Childhood for Nicole’ was posted on the website of the charitable organisation International Charitable Foundation ‘Ukrainian Charity Exchange’ - dobro.ua - with the aim of raising donations to pay for the treatment of Nicole Mykhlyk.
The initial amount to be raised was set at UAH 48,279.00 (forty-eight thousand two hundred and seventy-nine hryvnias, 00 kopecks), when the entire amount needed to pay for the girl's treatment was raised on two information platforms: BO MBF ‘Ukrainian Charity Exchange’ and BF ‘Pomagaem’, we requested to close the fundraiser, reduce the amount of the project on the UBB to the amount actually raised – 15,944.00 UAH (fifteen thousand nine hundred and forty-four hryvnias, 00 kopecks), and to transfer the funds to our current account to pay for Nicole's treatment and project administration, in accordance with letter No. 594 dated 19 November 2025.
In November of this year, we purchased and delivered medicines and special food for Nicole for a total amount of 15,146.80 UAH (fifteen thousand one hundred forty-six hryvnias, 80 kopecks), and also paid for the administration of the project.
At the moment, Nicole is showing some improvement, which brings a lot of joy. Her seizures have become less frequent, and she now feels a little better. The girl has become more active, is interested in the world around her, and is increasingly drawn to toys. She enjoys playing with her brother and sister, which adds warm moments to their time together.
We apologise for the delay in preparing the report, which is due to difficult circumstances beyond the control of the reporting manager and the inability to replace the employee.
Currently, all funds transferred from the Ukrainian Charity Exchange have been spent on the child's needs.
We sincerely thank the donors and partners of dobro.ua for their help, and the UBB team for their many years of cooperation!
