Taras is a fourth-grader – an active and kind boy. He loves sports and soccer, and, like all children, dreams of being happy. But every day, his childhood consists of injections, blood sugar tests, and the pain of pricking his fingers.

When Taras was 5, his life changed dramatically – he ended up in the ICU with extremely high blood sugar. That’s when the family received the diagnosis: type 1 diabetes. The ICU, IVs, his first injections, and the child’s tears… None of them had ever dealt with diabetes before. It was a painful blow for every member of the family.

Taras is a boy from a large family. His parents cannot afford continuous glucose monitoring sensors, so they use test strips, but even those are in short supply. The boy’s fingers don’t have time to heal and recover after the pricks. The sensor will help Taras reduce pain, better control his blood sugar levels, and avoid dangerous complications.
