Veronika is a very curious, quick-witted, friendly, and sociable girl. She attends school, has many friends, and also goes to art school and music school, where she studies vocals, sings in a choir, and plays the piano. She is a very creative girl who loves drawing. And her other joy is her pets: her cat Myshko, a hamster, and her little dog Yupik!
The girl was born a completely healthy child and developed according to her age, but in her preschool years she frequently fell ill with viral respiratory infections, one of which became the trigger for the onset of her illness. At the age of four, the girl was admitted to intensive care with critically high blood sugar levels. Her parents heard the diagnosis – type 1 diabetes. And from then on came endless blood sugar checks, finger pricks, and blood tests.
It was very difficult emotionally and physically – hard to accept the diagnosis of a child who just yesterday was healthy and smiling, and who now was constantly hungry and in tears from countless injections, bread unit counting, restricted meal portions, and being forbidden sweets and treats. The family's peaceful life turned into sleepless nights spent reading medical literature to understand the disease. The full-scale war, stress, and tension worsened the girl's condition. Injections are now a daily necessity, and blood sugar monitoring continues day and night.
Continuous glucose monitoring is absolutely vital for Veronichka, as it helps respond to changes in time and avoid dangerous episodes. Unfortunately, this is very expensive medical equipment. The costs of treatment, blood tests, and health maintenance fall entirely on the family's shoulders. The state does not cover all expenses, and only the father works in the family, while the mother constantly cares for their daughter. The war has made the financial burden even heavier.
Her parents do everything possible to preserve Veronika's health, but managing without support is very difficult for them. Together we can give Veronika the most precious thing of all – stable health and a happy childhood!
