First Aid “Dai lapu, drug” (“Give a paw, Friend”)

The worst thing is to be a castaway. To be lying on a roadside and to writhe with pain within sight of people passing by. Life of homeless animals is full of suffering. It is easy to get into a trouble in a city: to be thrown out by masters or get lost. Animals get under the wheels of cars, become victims of dog-hunters, cruel people poison and cripple them, they die of hunger, cold and diseases. The purpose of this project is raising money for veterinary care for seriously ill and injured animals.

The animals, who have got into trouble, have very little chance of being rescued. Even if somebody notices their pain and brings them to the hospital, having found out how much the treatment costs, people agree just to euthanize the animal “for it not to agonize”. But they are alive. They feel pain and fear, just like people ... AND THEY HAVE A RIGHT TO LIFE! They always know WHAT verdict is pronounced upon them, and they are simply entreatingly looking into our eyes, silently asking: "Do not betray me, for I have been betrayed so many times ...”.

Zaporozhye social organization for animal rights protection, “Dai lapu, drug” (“Give a paw, Friend”), rescues animals who have got into trouble. Those injured, sick, mauled, having been brought to the hospital by people who can’t afford their treatment. We never agree to euthanasia, we use every chance to save live, because every life is priceless. Typically, injuries require complex operations, expensive treatment and long-term rehabilitation of an animal. The cost of treatment ranges from 3,000 to 5,000 UAH and more. To continue saving the lives of animals, money is constantly necessary, which is always lacking. Therefore, the members of “Dai lapu, drug” (“Give a paw, Friend”) organization decided to create a saving fund to be constantly replenished by benefactors, and the resources of which would go to the emergency treatment of animals. Every month we get more than 10 animals with severe injuries, after recovering animals remain in the shelter, and we look for a new family for them.

Animals never feel handicapped, and we became convinced of it many times, watching how gratefully and happily they continue to live and give happiness to people!
