Solonytsivska community: food assistance for IDPs

On the territory of the Solonytsivska community (Kharkiv district) there are 3,442 officially registered inhabitants and 9,391 internally displaced persons. At present, the resources available to the community are not even enough to cover the needs of the local population, let alone IDPs. The main categories that fled the war in Solonytsivska community are families with young children, pregnant women, families with many children and single mothers, they need help and support like no other.

The most acute problem is food, because almost all of the displaced have lost their jobs and means of subsistence, and their savings, even if they were, have all been exhausted in six months of war. People complain that they still can't even get payments for IDPs. With no housing, no money and no hope for the future, this is how they describe their condition now.

But we are in a position to help these people with at least the most important thing – food. That's why we collect funds for food kits for families who fled the war in Solonytsivska community.

The kits we collect are very nutritious and contain the essentials: 2 kg of pasta, 2 packages of rice, 2 packages of cereals (wheat, barley or bulgur), 1 package of sugar, 1 bottle of oil, 2 cans of stew, 2 cans of fish, 1 package of tea and sweets (cookies, chocolate or waffles). If eaten rationally, this is enough food for 4 weeks for 1 person and 2 weeks for a family. The cost of one such set is 650 UAH. So we want to collect 1300 sets and reach more than 2000 people.
