Cheerful, delicate, intelligent, and quick-witted, Sofiia was born and lives in a large city on the shore of the Black Sea. She is very sociable, has a kind heart, and an boundless love for animals. Since the age of five, the girl has dreamed of becoming a veterinarian and is already confidently moving toward that dream. At home, three cats, a dog, and her beloved hamster Pelmeshka are waiting for her.

Sofiia has always been very active: she skated, rollerbladed, cycled, and rode a scooter, and took part in swimming, children's fitness, yoga, and karate. At karate training she amazed even adults with her composure and strength of character.

A special place in her life has always been occupied by creativity. Sofiia learned to hold a paintbrush before she said her first word. She later began attending an art studio, took up pottery, and participated in creative workshops. Sofiia loves travelling, going on camping hikes, and can even start a campfire in several different ways. She has always strived to discover the world and find something new.

But one day everything changed. The active and cheerful girl suddenly became tired, lethargic, and sad. Numerous examinations, blood tests, and doctor consultations began. For almost half a year her parents searched for the cause of her deteriorating health, but found no answers. Sofiia's condition was declining rapidly. When the situation became critical, the girl was urgently hospitalized. It was then that the family heard the diagnosis that changed their lives – type 1 diabetes.

Sofiia accepted the news bravely. Every day she learns to live with her new reality. Unfortunately, due to feeling unwell, the girl has had to give up many of the activities that brought her joy. Drawing, sport, time with friends – all of it moved to the background. In their place came constant blood sugar monitoring, injections and restrictions, meal calculations, insulin injections, and countless finger pricks.

Sofiika is very strong. Sometimes even too strong. She has grown used to enduring pain and hardship. But every child needs support. Especially when the fight goes on every day. Continuous blood glucose monitoring sensors will ease Sofiia's life and help monitor her blood sugar around the clock without constant painful finger pricks, and will provide timely warnings of sharp and dangerous changes in blood sugar levels.

For Sofia, sensors are the chance to stay active, pursue her favorite activities, and enjoy her childhood.

Let's help Sofiia live by her dreams, not by her illness. Let's help her reclaim the joy of childhood, creativity, sport, and the ability to look toward the future without fear.
