Talina dreams of a healthy future

Eight-year-old Talina Sazonova from the city of Kharkiv is a cheerful, active, and very creative girl. She is in second grade at an underground school, loves drawing, sculpting, and coming up with something new. Alongside her creativity, Talina also has technical abilities: she attends a robotics club and dreams of one day becoming a game developer.

A year ago, the family's life changed sharply. The girl began losing weight rapidly and constantly felt thirsty. Her mother immediately turned to the doctors. Tests showed a critically high glucose level. What followed was hospital, intensive care, a difficult period of coming to terms with the diagnosis – type 1 diabetes – and the beginning of an entirely different life.

Today Talina is learning to live with her diagnosis. Daily blood sugar monitoring, injections, food counting – all of this has become part of her childhood. But despite the difficulties, she remains a curious child who is open to the world and wants to live an ordinary life: going to school, communicating with friends, and attending her favorite clubs.

For Talina to be able to safely lead an active lifestyle, she needs continuous glucose monitoring sensors. They allow blood sugar levels to be monitored without constant finger pricks, enable timely responses to dangerous fluctuations, and significantly reduce health risks.

Unfortunately, sensors are expensive. Her mother is currently on maternity leave with a younger child, and her father works as a teacher. The family finds it difficult to ensure the continuous use of these essential monitoring tools on their own.
