Warm embrace
The second month of autumn begins on a special date. October 1 is the International Day of the Elderly, proclaimed by the General Assembly of the United Nations. And in Ukraine, it is also Veterans Day. This day is not just an opportunity to remind everyone of their human obligation to be caring and compassionate to the most respected part of society. It is also a reflection on the future destiny of mankind, its culture, the interconnection of generations. More than half of lonely people need help in their daily lives, especially today when many retirees are the main source of life for a pension that does not support a normal life.
And retired IDPs, in general, find themselves in very difficult life circumstances, which keep the elderly daily in the context of poverty, money and total savings, their relatives and, most importantly, fully functioning. Many elderly people in Ukraine suffer from poor living conditions. One of the most painful problems that directly affect all IDPs without exception is housing, as in most cases it is rented.
Accordingly, living conditions are different from those used to be, before the beginning of the humanitarian crisis in Eastern Ukraine for the elderly. Rental prices are virtually inaccessible to low-income people, who are the vast majority of retirees, and it is painful to talk about the comfort and convenience of a temporary residence.
On this day, the world talks about the active actions taken to protect the interests of the elderly, to create favorable living conditions for them, about the unresolved in this area. Dear philanthropists, helpers, like-minded people, and indifferent people, we appeal to you for your holiday for the International Day of the Elderly, for the wards of the medical-social project “Home Care for IDPs in the East of Ukraine”, namely providing our wards for warming up to the heating season – blankets and blankets.
After the fighting and the humanitarian crisis in the east of Ukraine, it became clear that the lack of hope and complete disillusionment in the future is becoming a key issue for generations of young people and people with disabilities. Most of them left without family, documents, and homes and were forced to move to the grounds of another, but the hospitable city of Kharkiv and Kharkiv region. Did they want to meet old age in an unfamiliar city and be alone with their troubles? In many of them, health has deteriorated significantly due to stress. Being in difficult circumstances, having lost their homes and any hope for the future, they found peace and comfort thanks to the care and care of the social workers of the Home Care project.
A blanket and blanket fundraising event will give the elderly the opportunity to create comfort and comfort in temporary accommodations. We want this campaign to influence the hearts, minds, and perceptions of our entire generation to offer them hope and belief in a better future. We appeal to all indifferent, those who can and wants to help! By donating at least one hryvnia to everyone, together we can support the elderly and save them from the cold. We are the only ones who count on lonely old women.
