On 05.06.2025, the project ‘Urgent Surgery for Daniilochka’ for a total amount of UAH 187,660.00 was placed on the platform of the CO ICF ‘UBB’ dobro.ua for the treatment of Kostetska Daniela at the Kyiv City Children's Hospital No. 2. The aim of the project was to raise funds for a girl with a complex diagnosis of progressive hydrocephalus and shunt infection. Daniela had congenital hydrocephalus, a condition where fluid accumulates in the head and puts pressure on the brain. She was fitted with a special shunt to drain this fluid. Unfortunately, the shunt failed and caused an infection that spread rapidly. This condition threatened the baby's life. To save Daniela, an urgent neurosurgical intervention with the use of special consumables was necessary.

On 26.06.2025, Daniela underwent a complex neurosurgery on the brain.

During the operation, specialised consumables were used to perform external ventricular drainage and further stabilise the baby's condition:

A stiletto (23 cm) by Medtronic Navigation Inc. is a special surgical instrument used to precisely insert a catheter or other elements into the ventricles of the brain. It provides safe and controlled access to the brain during surgery.
External drainage set - is necessary for temporary removal of excess cerebrospinal fluid from the brain. This is important to reduce intracranial pressure and stabilise the child's condition until a permanent shunt system is installed.

The Ventricular Reservoir, Lower Inlet, 12 mm with Ventricular Catheter, Small, 23 cm is a special device that enables doctors to inject medications directly into the brain or to monitor pressure. The catheter allows for accurate delivery of medications or collection of fluid for analysis.
A programmable shunt system is the main element in the treatment of hydrocephalus. It continuously drains excess cerebrospinal fluid from the brain to another part of the body (usually the abdomen) to relieve pressure. Thanks to the programmable valve, doctors can fine-tune the amount of fluid drainage to the child's individual needs.
These supplies were critical to performing the complex neurosurgery that saved Daniilochka's life.

Currently, Daniilochka is in the hospital for further treatment and observation by doctors. A recovery period, monitoring of her condition and gradual rehabilitation are ahead.

A financial report is provided on all the funds used.
