Center for children, women and youth "Ya – mama!"

Did you know that in Zhytomyr there is a house of mercy for special people? Charity is not “on paper”, but effective, efficient. Center "Ya- Mama!" has been caring for children with disabilities and their families for 10 years; women in difficult life circumstances and low-income families. It is not just a point of distribution of used things and food for the poor. This is a space with professionals who understand the complex diagnoses of children with disabilities and know the problems of their families. A place where a child receives quality rehabilitation lessons, not just pills. A mother or a young girl in a wheelchair receives not only food and clothes, but the support of a psychologist, a family holiday, time for personal rest and self-realization.

Center "Ya – Mama!" is located in a small town and with small resources performs titanic work. Gathering volunteers and philanthropists in crumbs, rejoicing for each partner as another ray of light in the tunnel, the team "hits this rock". When businesses closed, people lost their jobs, and the Center survived the quarantine crisis. The organization continues to grow. And now "Ya – Mama!" needs support itself.

First, a refrigerator is essential for the temporary storage of perishable products. After all, they are included in the food kits, which are distributed monthly. Secondly, you need a desk for children with complex motor disorders. We boldly call this need vital in classes with a psychologist, speech therapist and music therapist. Third, a synthesizer for music therapy lessons. Not entertainment, but a means of work with proven effectiveness that improves social communication and motility of children with complex diagnoses.

Reading the text, I really want you to see not a digit nor a symbol, but a real person, his misery and vital need. The real fate. Hope. And the real solution to the problem!

In 2020, more than 2,000 people received assistance from the Center absolutely free of charge. Every week about 50 people come to these doors and close their needs - vital, psychological, personal.

For the last year:

- 333 children with disabilities received medication and diapers,

- 405 food kits were issued to needy families,

- 42 children with disabilities underwent rehabilitation, hippotherapy,

- 280 classes with a music therapist were attended by children as part of rehabilitation programs,

- 46 master classes were held within the framework of the Program of psychological support of women and children,

- 25 families rested at a picnic party and went on a tour to Dobropark,

- 656 individual classes with a psychologist, speech therapist were attended by children whose parents could never afford such a "luxury" for money.
