Diapers are not only for babies. They are vital for children who have no control over their bodies due to illness.
They have lost their homes. Their families fled the war, the explosions, the occupation. They moved from Donbas to Kharkiv, from Kharkiv to Dnipro, from Dnipro to the west of the country, where they have to start from scratch again. For the second time. For the third time. Without savings, without a corner. But with a child in her arms who needs to be looked after every day, every hour, every minute.
The wards of our foundation are children with disabilities. Most of them have severe motor or mental disabilities. Many have conditions that make it impossible not only to walk but also to control basic physiological functions. These children need diapers. All the time. Not because they are “small”. But because the disease does not ask how old you are. And it does not go away with age.
One child with this diagnosis needs 90 to 200 diapers per month. Our foundation takes care of 10 such children aged 4 to 15 years. Their parents spend the last of their money on food, treatment and housing. And sometimes – just to survive.
We raise funds to buy diapers so that our children do not feel shame and discomfort.
Every diaper means dry clothes, no bedsores, and a good night's sleep. This is what should be the norm. And this is what we can provide today. Because a diaper is not a luxury. It is a means of hygiene, care and love.
Give children with a difficult fate a little ordinary comfort.
