Dmytro is 15 years old, and for eight years now, a terrible disease has been part of his life. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which the human immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys the cells of the pancreas that are responsible for producing insulin. Despite his diagnosis, he is a cheerful and talented young man who loves life. He dreams of becoming a lawyer, enjoys sports, and loves spending time with friends. Dmytro has the strength of spirit that helps him fight his illness every day, but he needs support to live a full life.
The daily cost of treatment far exceeds the family's financial capabilities. Insulin, special test strips for a glucometer, lancets, and other medical supplies are constantly needed, but they are not fully covered by the state. There is a particularly urgent need for sensors for continuous blood glucose monitoring. These would eliminate the need for frequent painful finger pricks and the serious consequences of hypoglycemia, as well as allow for constant monitoring of sugar levels, preventing dangerous spikes in a timely manner. Please help make this young man's life brighter and safer!
