Easter breakfast for the homeless

CF “Caritas SDD UGCC” together with the Community of mutual support “Nasha Hata” have been organizing Easter breakfast for the homeless and poor people already for six years. To our first Easter breakfast came nearly 20 homeless people, the previous year we had more than 70 homeless and needy people and this year we are ready to welcome more than 80 visitors. We feel really happy to know that needy and especially homeless people want to participate at such event as Easter breakfast. 

We are sure that Easter breakfast is not just a holiday meal; it is the source of power that helps to get up from the knees and find the aim of one’s life.

Traditionally Caritas’ workers and volunteers, who leave their families for a couple of hours on Easter day to serve the neediest, help in organization of Easter breakfast. The number of “Easter volunteers” is growing along with the number of people who come to the Easter breakfast. This fact strengthens our belief that we do a good and right thing. However, organization of Easter breakfast needs not only people’ time and work but also financial support. The most costs are spent on food. Apart from covering of the Easter table we prepare packages with food for people to take home.

Preparing to the Easter, the Day of Christ Resurrection, doesn’t only mean baking of a paska and painting of eggs. It is also caring about those who cannot organize a real Easter breakfast at home because of difficult life conditions. We ask you not to be indifferent and to help us to raise costs which will be spent on purchasing of food and preparation of the Easter breakfast for the neediest.
