Just a little longer, and Volodymyr will know the life of a constant struggle with illness longer than a healthy one. The illness first manifested itself when the young man was thirteen: the doctor, to whom he came with complaints of constant thirst, made a terrible diagnosis - type 1 diabetes.
What to do? How to live with this? The only thing that gave Volodymyr strength and hope was the support of his family. Together they enthusiastically believed that they would soon invent a medicine that would help overcome this disease, but no miracle happened.
The beginning of the war in eastern Ukraine eleven years ago changed everything, and the full-scale invasion dealt an even more merciless, decisive blow. The loss of housing, property, weeks spent in basements, constant stress negatively affected the man's health and life. For the family, the struggle for survival ceased to be a metaphor.
This indomitable family has suffered an unbearable amount of grief and suffering, but they, no matter what, still have hope for the best. They believe in peace, in the fact that after the black streak there will definitely be a white one. Volodymyr really wants to enjoy the sun, have a family, a favorite job. Now he is twenty-five years old and life is just beginning. He loves to play sports, communicate with friends, travel, learn about the world. To do everything that diabetes can insidiously snatch right out of his hands at the slightest weakening of control.
