Vika wants to run! 4

Vika Izyumchenko is from Pokrovsk, Donetsk region. The girl is 16 years old, but she has been ill since birth – she has cerebral palsy and Dandy-Walker syndrome. For a long time, Vika could not hold her head, sit, pick up objects, stand or walk, talk or respond to anyone. Of course, systematic treatment improved the girl's condition. Until a full-scale war broke out.

In April last year, the girl and her mother went to Nikopol, but due to constant shelling, they were forced to leave the city and moved to Kyiv with the help of volunteers. Here Vika could undergo treatment, go to the pool and have massages. But then the blackout began.

"It was very hard both mentally and physically. There was no light, heat or water. Every day, I carried a 15-year-old child who does not walk on her own to the 4th floor because the elevator was not working. When we finished our last course of rehabilitation and the pool, I'll be honest: I gave up. In December 2022, we returned home, and it was a breath of fresh air for me," says Vikusia's mother.

Currently, the girl's condition requires rehabilitation. Vika still does not speak, can only stand for a short time, walks with the full support of others, does not write or read, but crawls and eats a little on her own. The girl's father is currently defending us from the enemy, and her mother is doing her best for her daughter.
