Immediately after birth, Vika was diagnosed with hydrocephalus and a brain hemorrhage. This was followed by intensive care and complex surgeries. That’s how the first weeks of the little newborn’s life unfolded – in operating rooms and intensive care units.
However, the list of the girl’s conditions grew to include epilepsy, cerebral palsy (right-sided hemiparesis), and partial optic nerve atrophy. Treatment began immediately.
Vika is now 5 years old, and she is still battling all of her conditions. Of course, thanks to ongoing rehabilitation, positive changes are evident: the girl’s ability to imitate sounds is improving and new words are appearing; her body is getting stronger; Vika maintains her balance better, sits more steadily, and asks to stand on her own – albeit not for long, just a few seconds. Additionally, her arm affected by hemiparesis is extending better.
However, Vika still cannot walk; she can stand on her own only with support or in a standing frame, and she has difficulty speaking and understanding spoken language. The girl needs to continue working with specialists, as her future development depends on it.
We are launching a fundraiser for a new round of rehabilitation for Vika and ask you to contribute whatever amount you can. Please support this strong little girl!
