In the body of a three-year old Karolina there is an evil tumor that affected her female organs. The doctors did everything possible to stop the spread of the disease. Unfortunately, now they can offer only a surgery to remove all the organs of the pelvis, or treatment abroad.

Brachytherapy, that is local radiotherapy with high dose of isotopes after placing inside a special radiation source, is not performed in Ukraine. But it can be done in a French hospital. The cost of Karolina’s decent female future is over EUR 20 000.

Even during painful procedures little Karolinka smiles and can be playful. The girl fell ill last spring. Her mom noticed vaginal discharge and later on a neoplasm became visible. The parents brought their daughter to the Okhmatdyt, then to the National Cancer Institute. There she was diagnosed and a treatment protocol was prescribed. Karolinka endured all the stages of treatment, the tumor disappeared but after three months there was a recurrence...

Rhabdomyoblastoma is a very complicated tumor: even if only one affected cell remains, it grows again. To kill the tumor completely, brachytherapy is required but unfortunately, it is still not available in Ukraine.

We can give hope to Karolinka for a happy ending of her treatment!
