Every 15th baby in the country is born ahead of time. Even term babies often force their parents to worry a lot about their health. What can we say about those babies that rushed to "come out" ahead of time. Premature babies are the most vulnerable, depending on the professionalism of doctors and hospital equipment, babies. Their whole life depends on medical equipment. And because of the underfinancing of hospitals, doctors simply have their hands tied and they cannot save the lives of children. The goal of our project is to help premature babies survive!

In the first year of life of any child, there is the most intensive growth and rapid development. But during this period the organism is extremely vulnerable, the defenses are weak and imperfect. This is especially true of children who were born prematurely and are considered premature. The functioning of all organs and systems of a premature baby is associated with the absence of a certain period of intrauterine development and the characteristics of maturation and development of the organism in the new environment. Given the immaturity of all organs and systems (central nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive), adverse effects are tolerated by premature babies especially acute. Consequently, diseases that do not pose a danger to other babies can be more severe in premature babies. Their life depends on full control by doctors and equipment, which replaces the work of many organs.

Like all other systems in the body of a premature baby, the cardiovascular system is imperfect. For the testimony of the heart, blood pressure, oxygenation of the blood requires special attention, because not timely assistance can cost a child life! For the prevention of complications and the time saving of the lives of babies, physicians should use the method of pulse oximetry, which allows detecting such dangerous condition as hypoxia (lack of oxygen in the blood that can cause the death of the child) in time.

A pulse oximeter is a modern monitoring and diagnostic medical device designed to measure the saturation of hemoglobin in arterial capillary blood with oxygen (saturation). The cardiovascular system and the lungs of the infant continuously work with one goal - to oxygenate arterial blood. Premature babies have chronic oxygen deficiency, in which this indicator requires constant monitoring and reliable data, the non-receipt of which makes treatment much more difficult and can cost the life.

The pulse oximeter is today an indispensable device for the implementation of a single measurement, and for long-term monitoring (continuous monitoring) of the level of saturation and heart rate (pulse). The method of obtaining data is non-invasive (not requiring blood for research), so the pulse oximeter measures the necessary values quickly, facilitating the task of the neonatologist. The advantage of pulse oximetry is that for research it is not necessary to draw blood from the arteries (which helps not to injure the baby). In addition, the pulse oximeter allows you to receive and process data displayed on the display device. If there is danger and the level of oxygen in the blood falls, the device immediately signals the danger and the doctor is in a hurry to save the life.

Another important indicator for emergency care for a baby is blood pressure. Problems with pressure lead to a decrease in blood flow in the brain, and this is also incredibly dangerous. Blood pressure is the most important indicator of the functioning of the cardiovascular system. Changes in blood pressure during the nursing of a prematurely born baby can save lives and eliminate further complications in the work of the body of young patients.

Pulse Oximeter, which we dream to purchase at the Kiev Regional Center for Maternal and Child Health has not only a convenient monitor, continuous operation (even when the light goes off, the battery turns on) and the ability to signal danger, but also special blood pressure sensors! This is simply an indispensable device when nursing premature babies! There are only 4 of them in the hospital, and there are at least 6 patients and doctors have to choose whom to connect to the device, and who not. So it should not be! Every baby has the right to life! Our goal is to change the situation and give doctors the opportunity to help and save the lives of children on time!

Help us save the lives of hundreds of children who are born in the Kiev Regional Center for Mother and Child Health! And maybe these little ones will become future artists, rescuers, policemen, and philosophers.
