Save Yaroslav's childhood

13 kg at 11 years old – that’s how much Yaroslav from Dnipro weighed 12 months ago. Thanks to a special high-calorie nutrition, he gained 5 kg in a year and became stronger. Yaryk needs help again to maintain this pace and gain strength for growth and development!

Yaroslav’s family lives in Dnipro. At birth, the baby suffered from umbilical cord entanglement, severe hypoxia, cerebral hemorrhage and coma. At one year and four months, doctors diagnosed him with cerebral palsy, spastic diplegia and severe psychomotor developmental delay.

Despite the diagnoses, Yaroslav learned to eat from a spoon and began to recognize his family. But due to severe spasticity (muscle tension), he cannot hold objects, sit or walk.

Yaryk expresses emotions with a smile, vocalizes (sings vowels), and responds to address. He recognizes his parents, his twenty-year-old sister Daryna, and his seven-year-old brother Dima. When his grandparents come over, Yaroslav loves to be held. He also loves listening to music and watching cartoons with his brother.

In April 2024, Yaroslav was admitted to the intensive care unit with severe shortness of breath due to the flu. He was placed in a tracheostomy and a nasogastric tube. At the same time, he was diagnosed with protein-energy malnutrition: at the age of 11, he weighed only 13 kg, compared to the norm of 35 kg on average.

Two months later, the tube was replaced with a gastrostomy. Since then, the boy has been eating exclusively with the Nutridrink Compact Fibre formula. Thanks to it, he has gained 5 kg over the course of a year – and this is great progress!

But the nutrition intake must be continued! Yaroslav needs 4 cans of the formula per day; they cost 17,046 UAH per month. In the summer of 2024 we already bought him special food, now we need to replenish the stock.
