Sofia was born a healthy baby, despite all the difficulties her mother had endured – her husband left her two months into her pregnancy, leaving her without any support and with a small child, Sofia's older sister Chrystyna, to care for. From early childhood, the girl began to get sick often – every year, she was hospitalized three or four times. Doctors did not pay any attention to her illness, saying that she would "grow out of it." However, at the age of seven, Sofiika was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
Sofia is very kind, sincere, and talented: she loves to draw, sing, dance, make appliqués, and help others. She does well in school and dreams of peace in Ukraine and a life without painful injections. Every day, the girl has to prick her fingers more than 15 times to control her sugar levels. What would help Sofia the most is a sensor for continuous glucose monitoring – this would make her daily care easier and give her a more pain-free childhood.
Sofia's mother is raising her and her older sister on her own, constantly by her daughter's side, as the girl needs round-the-clock care. The family is struggling financially, they do not have their own home, and the father provides only unstable child support. Your support will give Sofiika not only the necessary sensor, but also faith in a good and safe future.
