Zakhar: a chance at life after the occupation

Zakharchyk is only 4 months old, but in this short time he has already been through far too much. The baby was born in occupied territory, without proper medical care, and has been forced to fight for his health from the very first days of his life.

The child has a severe brain injury. Due to congenital hydrocephalus, excess fluid accumulates in his brain, creating dangerous pressure and threatening his life. The situation was complicated by an infection – an inflammatory process developed in his brain, leading to serious complications.

Zakhar has already undergone complex procedures, but several more life-saving neurosurgical operations lie ahead. These are the procedures that can help stabilize the child’s condition, reduce pressure on the brain, and give him a chance at life.

The baby’s condition is critical: he experiences seizures, movement disorders, and damage to the nervous system. Every day is a struggle for him.

The surgeries are free for the family, but they require expensive medical supplies without which the doctors cannot proceed.
