      Alona’s pregnancy went well, but due to the baby’s oxygen deprivation, the doctors performed a caesarean section. At first, Andriyko developed normally, but then he began to gradually lose his skills. Many years of attempts to determine the cause of the condition proved fruitless. It was only in 2019 that Andriy was diagnosed with Hallervorden-Spatz disease at the Romodanov Institute of Neurosurgery, a condition in which iron accumulates in brain cells and damages them.
      In accordance with Cooperation Agreement No. 21 between the Charitable Organisation International Charitable Foundation ‘Ukrainian Charity Exchange’ and the Charitable Aid Operator Charitable Foundation ‘Pomagayem’ dated 31 August 2020, and Supplementary Agreement No. 21. 297 of 30 January 2025, the project ‘Iron Captivity.3’ was posted on the website dobro.ua with the aim of raising charitable donations to cover the cost of Andrii Bevza’s treatment.
      Subsequently, we sent a request to transfer part of the funds raised, amounting to 133,400.00 UAH (one hundred and thirty-three thousand four hundred hryvnias, 00 kopecks), to cover the cost of Andrii’s special diet, which was carried out in accordance with letter No. 103 dated 4 March 2025, and continued the fundraising campaign on dobro.ua. 
      On 4 April 2025, thanks to the donors of the Ukrainian Charity Exchange who closed Andriy’s fundraising campaign, we received a further 62,215.00 UAH (sixty-two thousand two hundred and fifteen hryvnias, 00 kopecks) into the Fund’s bank account to cover the child’s treatment and project administration. 
      Thanks to the funds received, in March 2025 we purchased and provided the boy with Resource Junior special formula worth 27,918.00 UAH (twenty-seven thousand nine hundred and eighteen hryvnias, 00 kopecks), in April – worth 46,762.20 UAH (forty-six thousand seven hundred and sixty-two hryvnias, 20 kopecks), in June – worth 46,762.20 UAH (forty-six thousand seven hundred and sixty-two hryvnias, 20 kopecks), and in early July – in the amount of 27,486.00 UAH (twenty-seven thousand four hundred and eighty-six hryvnias, 00 kopecks).
      In addition, in February of this year, we purchased and delivered Resource Junior special dietary food for Andriy to the value of 37,371.60 UAH (thirty-seven thousand three hundred and seventy-one hryvnias, 60 kopecks, 00 kopecks), and also paid for the project administration. 
      Andriy is in stable condition, enjoying life at his grandmother’s in the village. Here he breathes fresh air and listens to the birds singing, regaining his strength. Following the summer disaster involving an explosion that damaged their flat, his mother Alona is not yet willing to risk bringing him home due to fears for her son’s safety. The winter leg fracture is now behind him — the cast has been removed, and Andriy is gradually putting on weight. However, changes in the weather sometimes affect his well-being, which makes him very anxious.
      Andriy recently celebrated his 14th birthday. As he blew out the candles on his cake, he radiated genuine joy, whilst his grandmother stood by his side, supporting him and creating an atmosphere of care and warmth. Andriy seems to be teaching everyone to find joy in the simple things.
      He now has a good appetite, and a smile appears on his face more and more often. He is particularly delighted when adults joke with him or try to cheer him up.
His mum, Alona, sincerely thanks all the kind and caring people for their help in purchasing such vital specialised food for her little boy!
      At present, all the funds transferred from the Ukrainian Charity Exchange have been spent on the child’s needs.
