Hygiene products as a rescue during quarantine

When the country is in trouble, the Caritas HOBF cannot remain aloof from these events taking place now in Ukraine, in our society, in particular. Today, we see our main task as helping older people not to expose themselves and others to the danger associated with the spread of acute respiratory infections – coronavirus, to create conditions for our wards to stay at home, to minimize their need to visit crowded places during quarantine (public transport, pharmacies, shops). After all, they have not the highest risk of infection and further deaths.

In Ukraine, the first death from COVID-19 was recorded in a 71-year-old woman. The Golden Age human organism is vulnerable to infections through an immune system weakened with age. Under our tutelage there are more than one hundred beneficiaries from among 70+ people. The overwhelming majority of them – abandoned, lonely, sick people – they cannot take care of themselves and need constant attention and especially daily care. The old ones lack elementary things, but most of all personal hygiene products – soaps, shampoos, and disinfectants for surfaces and even toilet paper.

Indeed, in order to avoid infection, while the most effective method of protecting the elderly is to isolate them and observe hygiene rules – you just need to often wash your hands. Ordinary soap against viruses is more effective than antiseptic agents. However, hygiene products, household chemicals for disinfection are not enough. We intend to collect 100 sets with household chemicals and personal hygiene products for the elderly, which will include soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toilet paper, washing powder, various alcohol-containing detergents and disinfectants, etc.

These sets will be transported to the homes of those in need . Do not forget that there are those nearby who need our support! We must protect our health and take care of people who urgently need help in the difficult situation that has developed in our country at present. We take care of the physical and psychological health of the elderly!
