To ensure that hundreds of children do not lose their safe and supportive space, the inclusive studio “Papryka” needs our help.

Since 2023, the “Papryka” studio has been operating at the rehabilitation-based "St. John’s Center". For many children with disabilities, as well as children from other vulnerable groups – including internally displaced children and those from large families – this is their only opportunity to communicate, learn new things together, and celebrate their achievements, since classes at the studio are free of charge.

At "Papryka", children cook and bake, paint on water, work with clay, weave with straw, and create mosaics. Recently, simple knitting machines were added – now children can knit their own scarves and hats. But most importantly, this is a space of acceptance and support.

"I adapt each task to the abilities and pace of every child," says Svitlana, the head of the studio. "I support them with words, attention, and encouragement so they can feel, ‘I can!’ Inclusion, for me, is the moment when children without disabilities begin helping those who find certain things more challenging. That is the most powerful thing you can witness."

Shared creative work reduces tension and removes invisible barriers. Children become calmer, more open, and more confident.

The mother of 15-year-old Arsenii, a boy with intellectual disabilities, says: "During cooking classes my son learns to hold tools, cut, and use utensils. In mosaic classes, he learns to concentrate and arrange different shapes. The most valuable part is doing this together with others."

Kristina, mother of eight-year-old Roma, shares: "My son’s socialization happens here. Kindergarten could not provide proper inclusion. At "Papryka", everyone is equal. He became curious about foods he used to ignore, feels confident in the space, and is eager to try new things."

Anna, mother of three children without disabilities, says: "What I love most about "Papryka" is the people – their sincerity and dedication. When children create together, they don’t see barriers between themselves and children with disabilities. I believe this is how it should be everywhere."

Over the past year, "Papryka" has held 292 sessions for hundreds of children. Soon, its current project funding will come to an end. Your financial support will allow “Papryka” to continue operating for another three months, organizing 60 workshops that 360 children will be able to attend. Specifically, these include workshops on cooking, mosaics, painting, paper crafts, knitting, and clay modeling.

Support this inclusive space where children learn to accept one another and believe in themselves! This is where meaningful social change begins.
