Zhenia strives to live a full life

Seven-year-old Zhenia is an inquisitive and creative boy. He plays chess, piano, attends a theater class and is passionate about building robots. But for two years now, his life has been a constant struggle – he has type 1 diabetes.

It all started in the summer of 2022. At first it seemed that he was drinking a little more water because of the heat. But over time, Zhenia began to get tired quickly, lose weight, and complain of abdominal pain. The parents went to the doctor, but the child's condition only worsened. One evening, Yevhenii became very ill and had to be called an ambulance. After that, the boy ended up in the intensive care unit, where his parents heard a diagnosis that completely changed their lives.

In addition to diabetes, Zhenia also has a speech impediment. This disorder makes it difficult to pronounce sounds correctly and affects the clarity of his speech. It is difficult for him to control the work of his speech muscles, so he sometimes speaks slurred, confuses or “swallows” sounds. This creates difficulties in communication, especially with new people. But he is diligent and persistent – he constantly works with a speech therapist to learn to speak more clearly and confidently.

Despite all the challenges, Zhenia is an inquisitive and cheerful boy, eager to learn, communicate and do his favorite things. But his illness requires constant monitoring, which means daily blood sugar measurements, insulin injections, and strict nutritional calculations. State aid is not enough, and without it, the child's normal life is impossible. The mother asks for help in purchasing medical devices for measuring blood sugar levels - any support is very important for Zhenia.
