Life for Zhenia is devoid of sounds

The smiling kid in the photo is Zhenia Savchenko. He is only 10 months old. He has a big problem – the boy does not hear from birth... Zhenia is the first child of Julia and Ilya's parents. Zhenya's mother spent almost the entire pregnancy in the hospital. After the birth, the doctors examined the baby and told the mother that everything was fine with the baby, the baby was born completely healthy. But in the maternity hospital, the mother and her newborn son had to stay for a week - on the third day after birth, Zhenia developed jaundice and this required the supervision of specialists.

About two months after being discharged from the hospital, the parents began to notice that Zhenia did not react to sounds: loud music, electrical equipment, etc. The worried parents immediately went to the clinic. Doctors recommended observing the child for up to six months, and if there is no reaction to sounds, come to them again. The parents did just that. Two months passed, Zhenia had no reaction to the sounds and the parents decided not to waste time and went to the clinic again. The doctor sent Zhenya to the Aurora hearing clinic and the hearing institute. The first was a visit to the Aurora clinic. There, the baby was screened, according to the results of which they were ahead of that Zhenia really does not hear. His diagnos is  grade 4-5 bilateral sensorineural deafness ...

The parents did not immediately believe in the diagnosis and went for a consultation at the hearing institute. The baby was also screened there. Unfortunately, the diagnosis was confirmed. “We still cannot believe that our son is deaf", says the mother. "I am still trying to understand how, because of what it happened, because no one in the family has hearing problems. We hope to the last that everything will be fine and the rumor will definitely return".

Specialists from the Hearing Institute and the Aurora Clinic recommend purchasing hearing aids. "Unfortunately, my husband and I do not even have funds for one device, not so much for two", says the mother. "I’m on maternity leave, and my husband worked in a private furniture company, but at the time of quarantine the company was closed. The husband, of course, goes to work part-time, but the money is still not enough".
