Life between extremes

A girl who loves life, has many friends, is passionate about drawing, and dreams of the future – that is Sofia. And she needs our support.

From the age of two, Sofia's childhood came to a halt in a fight for her health. At that time, the girl experienced deep stress when her father was forced to leave – her husband had gone to defend the country. After crying intensely for an hour, Sofiika fell asleep and would not wake up no matter how hard her mother tried to rouse her. The frightened woman took her to hospital, where an examination revealed the cause of her unresponsiveness – type 1 diabetes.

Two-year-old Sofia spent 2 difficult months in hospital. After returning home, the family began rebuilding their life. And although her father was by their side once again, everything was already different – constant blood sugar monitoring, insulin injections, and endless pricks on tiny fingers.

Sofia is now going through puberty. New difficulties have emerged during this period: blood sugar fluctuations – sometimes too high, sometimes critically low. At times Sofia faints at school because of this. Fortunately, attentive teachers and a school nurse respond quickly in such situations.

Life goes on. Every day Sofia learns to live with diabetes and manage it. Her parents support her and strive to ensure their daughter has a full life without complications.
