Vika is now 12 years old. She studies diligently, loves to draw, and enjoys dancing. For half of her life, six years, she has been battling an incurable disease. Just days before she was to take her first step into first grade, the girl developed type 1 insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus.
At that moment, her whole life was turned upside down. The child had to learn to live in a new way. She had to inject insulin several times a day, count her food, and prick her fingers 10-12 times a day to control her blood sugar levels. But despite her illness, Vika continues to dance and study well. Communicating with friends gives her confidence and energizes her to move forward.
Now she is going through puberty, which brings with it frequent emotional swings: sometimes Vika refuses to eat so she doesn't have to prick her fingers and inject insulin. Just so she doesn't have to feel that pain again. Even so, her previously unstable blood sugar levels have become completely uncontrollable. To avoid living in constant anxiety and bruising her fingers, she needs continuous glucose monitoring sensors. Please help and support her in this struggle!
