700 years old Zaporozhye OakTree entreats for help

To preserve unique memorial of Ukrainian culture and Cossacks honor – 700-years old oak in Zaporizhzhya, we need your urgent support! Without us one of the last representatives of Zaporizhzhya oaks’ unique dynasty might become a history even today.

Zaporozhye Oak Tree is well known far from Ukraine as a symbol of Cossacks glory. It is unique because it becomes one of the last representatives of so called “dynasty of Zaporozhye oaks”. However people in Zaporozhye are very much worried about terrible condition of the tree and a territory around it. This territory is actively used like a rubbish place for many years.

Local administration has no chance to keep a historical-cultural complex “700 years old Zaporozhye Oak Tree” and has passed it under patronage of child-youth school of Cossacks martial arts “Spas”.

During the period from May 2009 students and several tens of volunteers have cleaned the territory of complex, took away 10 trucks of rubbish! Children have cleaned the channel of the river on the territory. Adults have renewed tree roots drainage. “Spas” plans to preserve a tree trunk and branches, and to treat it from the insects for the winter period.

But unfortunately it is not enough, because Zaporozhye Oak Tree and the complex need everyday control and regular actions for renewing.

Having human resources, school “Spas” has not enough money, and calls everybody to unite for revival of historical and cultural symbol of Ukraine!
