13-year-old Alina is a very kind and lovely girl who until recently was a healthy child. But almost two years ago her life changed forever.
She was admitted to hospital directly to intensive care with a high blood sugar level and the highest level of acetone. After examination and treatment in hospital, her condition stabilized, and the diagnosis her family heard sounded like a verdict – type 1 diabetes. Alina was immediately prescribed insulin.
From that moment on, Alina's life has meant constant blood sugar monitoring, insulin, worry, and a daily fight for stable health. At first it was very difficult emotionally, but Alina holds up bravely and is learning to live with this illness without losing her smile. She tries to keep her blood sugar within normal range, but it does not always work out. For better and continuous glucose monitoring, sensors are needed. They will allow Alina and her family to see her blood sugar level continuously on a phone screen and avoid 10-15 finger pricks per day. Unfortunately, due to limited finances, the family is unable to manage on their own and provide the girl with continuous monitoring.
Your help is not just a contribution. It is support, hope, and a chance for Alina to keep moving forward. Let's give her the chance to grow, explore, dream, and simply be a happy child!
