The pregnancy went well, all examinations were normal, but during a planned cesarean section everything changed in an instant. A severe hypoxic ischemic injury of the central nervous system and a seizure syndrome became a devastating reality for the family.

Instead of his mother’s warm embrace, there were the cold walls of the intensive care unit, instead of a lullaby, the sound of machines. Three weeks between life and death, mechanical ventilation, coma, tube feeding, and endless fear in the hearts of his parents.

From the age of three months, Maksym has been constantly undergoing rehabilitation, hospitals, examinations, massages, medications, consultations, every day is a struggle. When he turned one year old, the family heard a devastating diagnosis, cerebral palsy.

Maksym cannot live like other children, he does not have an easy childhood, every movement comes with pain, every small achievement is the result of enormous effort. His hometown does not have the capacity to treat children like him, so the family is forced to travel constantly to other cities, leaving their home, spending all their strength and all their money. Over two years, the family has exhausted all their resources, but they have no right to stop, because every rehabilitation course brings hope, gives a chance, brings small victories that mean life for Maksym. Behind them are already 10 courses of treatment, a lot of pain and struggle, but there is still a long road ahead, and it cannot be to overcome without help.
