I am the mother of the child who lives with the serious genetic disease, cystic fibrosis. This insidious disease involves the whole organism, and more of all the lungs, making the breathing difficult. Every day, every hour we, my daughter and me, are waging a contest where Life itself is the award. I took the decision to take part in this marathon for the benefit of our children lives. Our children are very special, but they are worth living on our wonderful Earth! So now we are collecting money to support the hospital where the children like my daughter are being saved.

Every day I help my Olia to observe therapist instructions, because a lot of medicines need to be taken at the same time, inhalations (up to eight per day) and special physical exercises with the help of respiratory simulators are to be made in time. We are doing physical exercises together because it is fun and easier to do when somebody is supporting you. We are cycling during a warm time of the year in the evening and do exercises at home in winter.

However, despite everyday efforts, we have to go to the hospital for the in-patient treatment. Olia also needs regular courses of the proven antibiotic therapy – this a special feature of her disease. In our hospital unit, there are also children with other serious genetic or chronic diseases, which damage lungs, many children with spasmodic asthma, and children in acute states like serious pneumonia, etc. But regardless of the diagnosis, everyone needs attention, skill and the help of doctors. However, the material and technical support of the hospital is much weaker than the real need for it. There is no computer in the unit, doctors have to deal with huge stacks of paper as it was half a century ago, and our medical statements are written by hand. And this takes a bunch of working hours, which could instead be spent on the supervision of small patients and selection of the best therapy for everyone.

We love Life very much and we have huge hopes for the Future! And we strive today to make a maximum for this future to come - for us and other kids who are now hardly breathing. Help us!
