Yaroslav dreams of becoming an athlete

Yaroslav was born a healthy baby and a real strongman – weighing 4.5 kilograms! He grew up normally and was a calm and intelligent boy for his age. However, over time, his parents began to notice drastic changes in their son's body: Yaroslav lost weight rapidly, began to drink water constantly, and needed to use the bathroom frequently. Concerned, they took the boy to the hospital, where their lives were turned upside down forever.

The diagnosis came as a bolt from the blue: type 1 diabetes, severe form. It was impossible to understand and accept that this could happen to a healthy 5-year-old child. But thanks to the doctors, their support and explanations, the family learned to live again and realized that even with such a diagnosis, it is possible to live a bright and full life. To do this, they need to monitor the child's sugar levels and diet around the clock.

Yaroslav is a very smart and diligent boy who is finishing 5th grade. He is an excellent student and enjoys soccer and fishing. He dreams of becoming an athlete in the future. Unfortunately, his diabetes is not as good as his schoolwork. Yaroslav has had five hypoglycemic episodes, and due to complications from diabetes, he has epileptic seizures. To maintain his condition, the boy takes anticonvulsant drugs on a regular basis, which are also very expensive. The family has four children, so constant visits to doctors, buying medicines, and even necessary dietary food for them is extremely difficult. However, the boy also needs sensors for constant monitoring of his sugar levels.

Yaroslav is now 11 years old, and he dreams that all children with diabetes will be healthy. We cannot achieve this yet. But it is in our hands to make his life and childhood almost like that of ordinary children.
