Sviatoslav was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was 11 years old. Until then a cheerful, quick-witted, and sociable boy, he suddenly began to tire quickly and lose weight rapidly. Sviatoslav felt worse with every passing day – constant thirst and weakness appeared. And then everything was like a nightmare: hospital, intensive care, and a devastating diagnosis – type 1 diabetes, insulin-dependent. Life changed completely. Constant blood sugar monitoring, carbohydrate counting, insulin injections.
Half a year later, the family was struck by another grief – Sviatoslav's father passed away. All the responsibilities of caring for Sviatoslav and his two younger sisters fell on his mother.
Over the past year, diabetes has already caused damage to Sviatoslav's body – accompanying conditions have appeared.
Sviatoslav has friends and loves playing football with them and cycling. He must constantly monitor his blood sugar levels by pricking his fingers, as physical activity can cause his blood sugar to change sharply, leading to complications. The boy needs sensors for round-the-clock blood sugar monitoring. His mother cannot provide Sviatyk with monitoring on her own, as the devices are expensive and require constant replacement. She is reaching out to caring people with a request for help in providing her son with sensors.
