Mariika's hope. 3

Mariika recently turned 4 years old. She is a cheerful, joyful, and caring child who has bravely been overcoming life's challenges from a very young age.

It has been two and a half years since Mariika was rushed to intensive care nearly in a coma. At that time, the doctors told her mother that their little daughter had diabetes. From that moment on, life for their small family changed – injections, tears, carbohydrate counting. But the trials did not end there. The doctors also discovered that Mariika had a heart defect: surgery was needed. In the autumn, the girl and her mother went through that ordeal too, though it was very costly and emotionally devastating for them. Thank God and the doctors, everything went well.

This little girl has already been through – and continues to go through – what many adults could not bear. To make her life even a little easier, Mariika desperately needs glucose monitoring sensors.
