It is vital to monitor the pulse of a premature baby all the time, as the pulse is very weak. Conventional medical equipment is not suitable for such patients. The Chernivtsi Central City Clinical Hospital* needs special very sensitive sensors for monitoring heart rate and oxygen saturation for newborns.

They are indispensable in the process of nursing premature babies, because due to the immaturity of the body, children often have disorders of these functions, up to respiratory and cardiac arrest. Monitoring (control) of these functions is possible with the help of pulse oximeters. Existing technologies allow us to save the life and health of our youngest patients. The quality of medical care is determined by the effectiveness and safety of all technologies.

These are important sensors that are attached to the child and monitor the percentage of oxygen saturation in the blood. With this data, a doctor or nurse can adjust the percentage of oxygen given to a child depending on the individual needs of each child. It is also very important that preterm infants often have breathing delays (apnea). They can be physiological, due to immaturity, and pathological. This condition can be fatal, and with the help of a pulse oximeter signal, breath-holding can be recognized immediately and the necessary measures can be taken to get the child to start breathing again.
