Hryhorii is a Ukrainian defender who sustained a severe injury in the spring of 2025 and lost his vision due to trauma to both eyes. Today, he has a chance to partially restore his sight through a complex surgery – a corneal transplant. For this, a custom-made keratobioimplant costing UAH 48,000 is required. We are launching a fundraiser to help Hryhorii take a step toward restoring his vision and returning to a full and independent life.
In the spring of 2025, Hryhorii’s life was divided into "before" and "after". While defending Ukraine, he suffered a severe blast injury. Shrapnel caused complex damage to both eyes, with multiple foreign bodies embedded in the cornea.
After the injury, Hryhorii underwent numerous examinations and a long, difficult course of treatment. Now, doctors say there is hope: a corneal transplant may partially restore his vision. This is a complex procedure that involves replacing the damaged part of the eye with a specialized implant.
The cost of manufacturing such an implant is UAH 48,000. Without this support, the surgery will not take place, and the chance to restore his vision will be lost.
Supporting this fundraiser means giving a person back the light – a chance to see loved ones again, to perceive the world around him, and to take a step toward a full life after war.
Please join in helping. Together, we can give Hryhorii the chance to see the world again.
