A year ago, Alina was an ordinary woman and mother. Now she dreams only of living without pain and suffering. A few months ago, doctors diagnosed her with nonspecific ulcerative colitis. To maintain her health in a stable state, she needs to constantly take medication. Six months of medication is not an affordable amount for a family.
Alina is a loving mother, she is raising four-year-old Illia. Before maternity leave, Alina worked as an administrator, painted pictures, and took care of her family.
In July 2024, Alina suffered from bronchitis, after which she felt weak, lost weight, had digestive problems, and a high fever. In November, bronchitis manifested itself again in a more severe form: the temperature rose to 40 degrees and did not go down, and digestive problems arose again.
When the woman fainted, she was immediately hospitalized. Doctors could not make a diagnosis for a long time, until a colonoscopy showed that Alina had nonspecific ulcerative colitis (UC).
The woman suddenly developed intestinal bleeding. Her hemoglobin dropped to 46 units, Alina received a blood transfusion. But a day later, the bleeding started again. Doctors urgently performed surgery and installed a stoma.
Alina has already passed the most difficult stage of treatment, her condition has stabilized. Now she must take the vital drugs "Pentasa", "Probiz Intense", "Salofalk" and "Betargin" for half a year. If the intestinal mucosa recovers, the stoma can be removed.
If you type "Pentasa for free" in Ukrainian into a search engine, you can read the text of the petition created by Ukrainian patients in 2024. In simple words, the petition tells how the life of a person with UC changes, how it worsens due to the installation of a stoma, how often UC gives complications in the form of intestinal cancer. The author proposes to include "Pentasa" and "Salofalk" in the "Affordable Medicines" program, noting that there are not many patients with UC in Ukraine and they should not burden the budget. However, the petition did not gain enough votes.
To support Alina in her fight for health, we need to raise funds. Each of your hryvnias is the path to a stable remission and improvement in Alina's quality of life!
