Until he was four months old, Sasha developed like a normal child – he could hold his head up and roll over. Then he was admitted to intensive care with a high temperature and convulsions. The fight for the baby's life, his treatment and rehabilitation began. In 2023, Alexander was diagnosed with a rare degenerative disease of the central nervous system: leukodystrophy.
In accordance with cooperation agreement No. 21 between the Ukrainian Charity Exchange Charitable Foundation and the charity aid operator POMAGAEM Charitable Foundation dated 31 August 2020 and supplementary agreement No. 21. 330 dated 12 August 2025, the project ‘Sashko Can Live Without Suffering’ was posted on the website of the charitable organisation International Charitable Foundation ‘Ukrainian Charity Exchange’ - dobro.ua - with the aim of attracting donations to pay for the treatment of Oleksandr Zadreiko.
During the fundraising campaign, it became necessary to use part of the funds collected on the website of the Ukrainian Charity Exchange Charitable Organisation (UCE) – dobro.ua – to purchase food, consumables and hygiene products for the boy. Therefore, according to letter No. 423 dated 19 August 2025, we received the collected amount of 34,120.00 UAH (thirty-four thousand one hundred and twenty hryvnias, 00 kopecks) to the Fund's account and continued the collection on the dobro.ua platform.
In August of this year, we purchased and delivered medicines and consumables for Oleksandr for a total amount of 7,577.10 UAH (seven thousand five hundred and seventy-seven hryvnias, 10 kopecks), and in September, we purchased and delivered food, consumables, and hygiene products worth 26,542.90 hryvnias (twenty-six thousand five hundred forty-two hryvnias, 90 kopecks).
Currently, Sasha's health condition is quite complicated: he has been in hospital for two weeks due to phlegm accumulation in his lungs, which could not be removed at home. After a week of treatment in the hospital, he was urgently transferred to the intensive care unit because pus began to form in his lungs. At the moment, his condition remains serious but stable.
His mother is constantly by his side, worrying about her son. She sincerely expresses her gratitude for the care and support she and Oleksandr have received. The woman notes that she cannot even imagine how she would cope without help. We are extremely grateful to all the caring people for their help and bow low in gratitude for their kindness and support.
Currently, all funds transferred from the Ukrainian Charity Exchange have been spent on the boy's needs, and the project is still raising funds.
We sincerely thank the donors and partners of dobro.ua for their help, and the UBB team for their many years of cooperation!
