Five-year-old Nikol from the village of Obukhivka has microcephaly, spastic tetraplegia, epilepsy and vision problems. To maintain her health for six months, she needs anticonvulsants and other medications, as well as Gerber milk porridge.
Nikol was born healthy. But after three months, her parents began to notice that she was not following toys. An ophthalmologist diagnosed partial atrophy of the optic nerves. The girl sees only bright light and silhouettes.
An MRI at 1 year and 2 months showed microcephaly – underdevelopment of the brain.
At 1 year and 4 months, Nikol could only roll over. After classes at the St.John’s Center, she learned to sit, and a year later – to stand up. For the family, this is a constant struggle for every skill that costs strength, energy and money.
Nikol does not speak, does not understand spoken language, but recognizes pare ones by their voices. She adores her sister Ania and her brother Artem. Ania is 9 years old, she has had two kidney surgeries. Artem is a year old. They have cats, dogs, a parrot and fish at home – all for the joy of the children.
Nikol loves to be hugged. The girl listens to music with pleasure and plays with rustling toys. She strives to do everything herself.
With the beginning of a full-scale war, her condition worsened, she had epileptic seizures, insomnia, hysterics, and auto-aggression.
When convulsions and hyperexcitation of the nervous system began, rehabilitation in specialized centers had to be stopped. The parents work with their daughter at home: they purchased the necessary equipment for this.
Nikol takes the anticonvulsant drug Mezakar every day, the sedatives Truxal and Rispolept, she regularly needs Legkolax and Betargin, sometimes needs Mikrolax and Nurofen.
She is picky about food, she can't chew, so her mother grinds everything. Every day, the girl eats a package of Gerber milk porridge from Nestle.
A large family needs help in raising funds for the treatment of their daughter. This help will be enough to buy Nicole important medicines and food for six months. The girl really needs our support!
