At present, there is no equal device in the sense of simplicity and effectiveness of diagnosing cardiac pathology in infants among the screening methods of pulse oximetry.A medical pulse oximeter for children is designed to determine the pulse and measure the oxygen level in the arterial blood of young patients. Doctors know how difficult it is to get such parameters, especially when using invasive methods.

This method of research allows keeping under control the process of oxygen saturation of blood. When inhaled, air is absorbed by the most powerful capillary network and during the contraction of the heart spreads through the body through the flow of arterial blood. Oxygen itself is not able to move, red blood cells help it. The hemoglobin contained in each blood cell can hold up to four SpO2 molecules.

The average index of oxygen saturation of red blood cells is called saturation. If all four molecules are involved, then this parameter will be equal to 100%. In a normal situation, it is enough if the saturation is 95-98%. A decrease in the index indicates a progression of the pathological process.

The indicators are taken off instantly, but the error in measuring the functions of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems is practically zero. A pulse oximeter is successfully used when nursing every premature baby. Their number in the department should be equal to the number of small patients. The device for preterm children has an alarm sensor, so that in the event of a significant drop in the blood oxygen level, it notifies the medical personnel about this, so that they can promptly be able to save the life of a child.
