Sofiika is being raised by her mother alone. They are an internally displaced family from the Donetsk region whose home was destroyed by the war, forcing them to relocate. They left everything behind and started life from scratch. Sofiika and her mother now live in the Poltava region. But the greatest trial came upon the family three years ago, when Sofiika was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in a severe form.
Her childhood now is not only learning, leisure, and play – it is a daily struggle. Every day she must take 20–25 blood sugar readings, administer more than 5 insulin injections, and follow a strict diet, which is incredibly difficult for a child. Sofiika often feels unwell due to blood sugar spikes, experiencing headaches and pain in her legs. To improve her wellbeing, the girl needs continuous glucose monitoring.
Unfortunately, due to difficult financial circumstances, her mother – who has a visual disability – is unable to provide her daughter with continuous monitoring on her own. Sensors could significantly ease Sofiika's condition, reduce pain, help control glucose levels, and avoid dangerous complications. The family is sincerely asking for help. For them, this is not simply support – it is a chance for Sofiika to feel better, to live without constant pain and fear, and to have at least a slightly easier childhood.
